An international seamen's church is located in the port of Vuosaari. A canteen and a reading room for seafarers was situated at nr 2 Albertinkatu in Helsinki as late as the 1970's, but the rapid changes of port operations made it impossible for seafarers to make use of the services of the canteen. A seamen's mission must be located inside the port within a few minutes walk from the ships in order to be accessible to seafarers in today's efficient harbours. |
